our lil pumpkin

Mommy and Daddy frequently refer to Hannah Grace as "pumpkin" (actually sounds more like "punkin')...  so we've especially been looking forward to this time of year. The weather's getting cooler and the pumpkins are ripe for the picking!

We started an annual tradition with a trip to the pumpkin patch at Dempsey Farms on St. Helena. We rode out to the patch in a tractor-pulled hayride by Farmer Dempsey, picked out and cut our own pumpkins, then rode back to the weigh station! Because we went at the very end of Friday, we had the whole place (and all of the wonderful people) to ourselves!! Here's the pics:

Thrust and Thrush

Both of those words were prevalent this week...she officially found her "THRUST" and really began crawling all over the place. Yep, HG is trying to keep up with the four-legged family members!

And I can tell she's going to require a very careful watch... she's already found some tricky spots to get into!

But usually it's all fun to be crawling and it's very obvious that she's pleased with her new accomplishment because there's a big grin plastered to her face. We applaud her consistently ("yaaaay!" with clapping), and she loves it!

She stayed home one day with mom and dad perfecting her crawl due to being banned from school. Our little girl had "thrush," which is an infection in her mouth. It seems to be clearing up quickly with the medicine. All we have to do is douse a q-tip and swab her mouth every few hours. She gets a kick out of biting down on the q-tip to give us a challenge!

So that's our news for the week... thrust and thrush. Actually, it was fun playing hooky! :)

Up next...the Pumpkin Patch!

Happy 8 Months HG!

Dear Hannah Grace,

You are the most wonderful, beautifiul baby in the whole wide world.

You may not be crawling yet  (at least not forward), you may not have any teeth, and you may not have much hair.  But Mommy and Daddy love that because you are still our baby girl.

Since we can't freeze time nor these wonderful moments of you as a baby, we are trying really hard to cherish each and every one.

You wake up so cheerful each morning to help get mommy's day started just right.  You smile so bright when daddy picks you up for your afternoon together, it just melts his heart. Playtime is the best!  We all just roll around on the floor and giggle and "chat".  Mealtime is fun too as we try new foods but always, without fail,  end the meal with your favorite...PUFFS!

Yep, it's hard to believe that 8 months ago you came into our lives.  We have never been so happy.  We have enjoyed each and every phase, yes even all those tear-filled nights and poopy diapers.

And while we look forward to everything there is yet to come, we can't help but revel in the wonderfulness of the amazing love we share today.

Love ALWAYS, Mommy and Daddy (or as you like to say, DA-DA-DA-DA-DA-DA!)

Lookout below!!

Well tonight quickly moved from uneventful status to just the opposite... you won't believe what HG managed to get herself into....

Her diaper!

Oh yea, did I mention is was a newly, stinky FULL diaper?!?! And that she had been playing with said FULL diaper for at least 10 whole minutes!?!

As she sat in her highchair, with her tummy full of dinner and mommy and daddy in the kitchen nearby, she buried her little hands under the highchair tray and began playing with the velcro on her diaper. How cute, we thought. She's figured out how velcro works!

And then I took a closer look.

It was DISGUSTING!

We quickly panicked... laughed.. and then carried her with outstretched arms to the sink where the cleaning, and more disbelief and laughing, took place.

Though I wouldn't dare show you those pics (we had our hands too busy with haz-mat clean-up), here's pics from the uneventful meal earlier.  HG loves her puffs (only after veggies and fruits, of course)!!

Almost Crawlin'

Well, HG is testing the waters of a life on the move... she's scooting around (often in circles), moving from sit-up position to all fours, and even rocking back and forth on all fours. Crawling is right around the corner.

We aren't ready.

Not only is the house not baby-proof yet, but Mommy and Daddy will miss that sweet little girl being so predictable in location (you know, always staying where we put her).

She's changed so much... in  looks and the way she babbles (actually, yells), plays with such curiosity, and eats almost anything (mmmmm... pureed meat).... and this is another change to add to the list, a big one. It's overwhelming how fast she is growing and how smart she is. I mean, 7.5 months ago she was drinking amniotic fluid in my belly. I know that's gross, but it makes a good point.

None the less, here's HG working on her crawling skills. She'll be all over the place in no time at all!

Month 7 smiles!

Since it's been entirely too long without pictures of our precious daughter... thought I'd share some recent pictures that "DA-DA" (aka HG's new favorite word) took via phone.
Updates and stories coming soon. :)

Photo-less

Well, I've done it again. Another camera broken. A nice one at that. Big stinkin' bummer.

On the upside, HG is getting over her ear infection thanks to the new antibiotics, motrin (which is way better than tylenol), and numbing ear drops. Yep, we've got our fun, giggly, happy baby back! You'll just have to take my word for it since I have zero pictures (sore subject in our house). However, I think my hubby was wise this time and purchased a camera warranty, so hopefully I'll be back up and running (errr, picture-taking) in no time!

Meanwhile, MeyerOrganizer has hit the ground running! I am one-for-one with happy clients and ready to take on my next project. I have a couple yard sales to conduct soon, but there's plenty of time to help YOU with your home or office.
I welcome your inquiries!

Surprise! HG's earrings!!

Hannah Grace's cute little ears are now adorned with amethyst studs in honor of her February birth month. Though the process was borderline traumatic (maybe more for mommy?), we are so glad it's behind us. Here are the "before," "during," and "after" pics .... Doesn't she look so pretty with her new earrings?

6 month check-up + business plug

HG's 6 month stats show consistent progress... 15 lbs., 1 oz. and 25 in. Her development is right on cue, and she's hitting all appropriate milestones! She even showed off for the doctor by sitting up tall and then holding her bottle! :)

AND she got a very special present for her 6 month birthday... which I will reveal in my next post.... it's a surprise!! :)

Now, I must tell you about my new idea for a venture:

This look says it all

We are in a state of disbelief that HG is half a year old tomorrow... just six months ago, she was here:

Back to life

HG has made it through her first illness, and hopefully when we see the doctor in a few days for her sixth month check-up, he'll also give a passing grade on HG's ear infection recovery. She handled the antibiotics very well, and after some trying nights, has finally gone back to sleeping through the night again.

Did you notice I just flew by that "6-month mark" mention? Well, in all honesty, I can't even believe Hannah Grace will be half of a year old this week. Where does the time go? Our little baby girl is growing up right in front of our eyes!!

Her latest trick... [brace yourself]... is sucking on her big toe. Nope, no typo there... it's true. Of course I have a picture to prove it!
This picture will be added to the "ways to embarrass HG when she's a teenager" file :)

She has also become very aware and fond of the dogs. Riley (the Bassett) wants to lick her a lot, which we try to limit, but Meesha (the Lab) is still not too sure about this little human that has taken over the house.   Whenever they walk by her, she reaches out and yells baby gibberish, which they obviously do not understand. If they don't pay her attention she gets upset... it's the cutest!!

All in all, we're just enjoying all of life's little moments with our sweet girl!! She'll be teething, sitting up, and [hopefully] saying "mama" and "dada" before too much longer!
Hello blue eyes!
